Jeff Hybiak Wins In Tucson!

April 4, 2008, Tucson, Arizona

After taking the 2007 season off while he competed in Phoenix, Jeff Hybiak finally broke back into the win column at Tucson Kart Speedway on Friday night in the Adult 4 Cycle Division.  Hybiak won the 1st heat race and finished 2nd in the next heat, qualifying him on the pole.   With a big push on the start from fellow Phenom driver and points leader Richie Jones, the Liveprayer.com Phenom took off and lead every lap with Jones in tow.   Jones finished 2nd, with Michael Ramirez 3rd, and Paul Walshaw 4th in a close fought battle.

The win was Hybiak's second win in the division, his other win coming at the end of the 2006 season.

"I was beginning to doubt myself," Hybiak said after the race.  "This track is so tough to figure out.  Cody (Jeff's son and crew chief) really changed the set-up the last race and it has made a big difference.  Then he made some big changes that I wouldn't have made and that was all I needed."

"I told him I'd make him the fastest car on the track," Cody said with a smile. 

Cody did not fare as well in his feature race though.  He finished 3rd in a tightly contested contest with Nick Parker and Carlos Martinez.  The 3 Phantom Icon drivers were bumper to bumper the entire 15 lap race, with all 3 drivers holding the lead at some point.   Parker ended up making a great move to take the lead at lap 10 and held off Martinez and Hybiak.  Parker was the 4th winner in 4 races in the Jr 2-4 division.

The team is back in action in two weeks at Tucson Kart Speedway.
