FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cody Hybiak Wins Season Opener in Tucson

March 1, 2008, Tucson, Arizona

It was a new season, a new division, and tougher competition, but Cody Hybiak continued his hot streak in the season opener at Tucson Kart Speedway on Saturday.  Cody started on the pole after splitting the two heat races with fellow Vail resident and manufacturer's teammate, Nick Parker.

Parker got the jump at the start of the race, with Hybiak in tow.  Hybiak waited paitently and made several failed attempts to get around Parker.  Finally Hybiak got a run on Parker off of turn 4 and passed him going into turn 1.  Parker got into the back of Hybiak and spun, doing a perfect 360 to keep rolling back into 4th place.  Before the leaders could complete the lap another kart spun around and the caution flag flew.  The rules put Parker back into the lead because he was the leader of the last completed lap, he was put back into the lead.   That led to another 4 lap battle for the lead, with Hybiak finally prevailing going into turn 3 with 5 laps to go.

As the laps wound down, Parker could not get quite enough speed to catch Hybiak.  Carlos Martinez, also making his Jr 2-4 debut hung with Parker and Hybiak the entire race and came home 3rd, giving the Phantom Icon Chasis a sweep of the top 3 positions.

The day was not as good for Cody's teammates Jeff Hybiak & Mark Gorton.  The elder Hybiak was as high as 3rd place in his main event before a blown motor caused him to pull off the track.  Gorton also was as high as 2nd place before he lost a chain.  Things can only get better for them here on out.

The team is back in action on March 15 at Tucson Kart Speedway.
