Hybiak Motorsports Wins 3 Championships in 2007

October 14, 2007, Tucson, Arizona

In just their third season, Hybiak Motorsports won three championships in 2007.  All championships were clinched this weekend.

Cody Hybiak, a Corona Foothills 6th Grader, successfully defended his title from 2006 by claiming his 2nd consecutive title at Tucson Kart Club.  He won 9 of the 13 main events and had 12 top three finishes.   He never finished out of the top 5.  He also finished third in the New Mexico State Championships and third in the Arizona State Championship Series.

The results are more impressive knowing that Cody survivied a horrific crash in Phoenix in early June that resulted in an ambulance ride to the hospital.  The team had to purchase a brand new chassis after his chassis was totaled.  Cody never missed a beat in Tucson, winning 6 of the final 8 races there.  He did struggle in his subsequent trips to the Phoenix track following the wreck, but is still in the running for a 2nd place points finish.

Tyler Hybiak, a Desert Willow 3rd Grader, won the Tucson Kart Club Rookie Championship with 4 feature wins in 12 races.   He never finished out of the top 3.  He capped the championship off by winning the feature event against all the veterans including his brother in the regular Jr 1-4 division.

Jeff Hybiak, the boys’ father, won the Arizona Karting Association (Phoenix) Points Championship in the Animal Class.  He is the 2nd consecutive Tucson driver to claim the title in Phoenix.  He did it by winning 8 times in 12 races.  His worst finish all year was 2nd place.  He also won the New Mexico State Championship in August of this year and was the runner-up in the Arizona State Championship Series.  Eleven year old Cody serves as his crew chief and makes all set-up changes on his kart.

"The results this season were a dream come true," Jeff said.  "The season itself was mentally, physically, and financialy draining.  Our goal at the beginning was to compete for championships this year.  We had to replace the front end pieces three times on Tyler's kart, and he's on his third body.  After Cody's wreck in June, I figured none of us would make our goals.  Every time we look at these championships, it will be a symbol of our team's perseverance."

The team is currently seeking sponsorship for the 2008 season before they announce their plans for 2008.
