Hybiak Boys Dominate Iron Man RaceMRG Racing picked-up as SponsorSeptember
28, 2007 Some
nights everything goes wrong, other nights everything goes perfectly. Friday in Tucson was as close to the latter as
possible. Cody & Tyler Hybiak won both of
their heat races, started from the pole, and never looked back as Hybiak Motorsports swept
the Iron Man races at Tucson Kart Speedway. The
Iron Man Race is a special format run each September in Tucson where there is only one
qualifying heat race with an additional ten laps added to the main event. Tyler
started from the pole during his heat race and ended up winning by half a lap. Cody started fourth, but by lap 2 was in the lead
and also won by half a lap. The
team made some pretty big adjustments for the feature, but the results were the same. Tyler dominated his class, lapping the entire
field. He also clinched the Rookie
Championship. Cody
and Carlos Martinez broke away early in the Jr 1-4 race.
Cody stretched his lead a little each lap and had a 10 kart length lead by
lap 10 as he started to approach lapped traffic. As
Cody struggled to lap the first kart, Martinez closed within three kart lengths. Finally, Cody was able to duck under the lapped
kart and pull out a big lead again. Martinez
also struggled to get by the last place kart, which gave Cody about a straight away lead. By the end of the race, the only karts on the lead
lap were Cody & Martinez. The
win extended Cody’s lead over Martinez to 85 points, meaning all he has to do is take
one green flag lap in the final race to win his 2nd consecutive Jr 1-4 Championship. Before
the race, Hybiak Motorsports also announced that MRG
Racing
has signed on as Associate Sponsor for the remainder of the 2007 season on Cody’s
kart.
